Center of Large-Scale Outdoor Cultural Events Błonia 2.0

Component “Błonia 2.0.” is located on the border of two former villages that are now part of Krakow, Wola Rusiecka and Branice. There is a historic manor house nearby. First it belonged to the Gryfit family, and later it became the property of the Branicki family, who are a family branch of the former. The manor house was used by its owners for many years, also for organizing cultural events and social meetings. So the area around Błonia 2.0. historically, it has already had the role of a place of culture and entertainment.

Today’s area of the Center for Large-Scale Outdoor Cultural Events “Błonia 2.0” has retained its agricultural character for years. However, in the 1950s, a landfill for waste related to metallurgical activities was located nearby. Kraków Nowa Huta Przyszłości S.A. commissioned soil tests carried out in accordance with the guidelines of the Regulation of the Minister of the Environment of September 1, 2016. The tests did not show that the standards were exceeded, which allowed the investment to be continued.

The assumption of the “Błoń 2.0” project is to create a place of cultural and physical activity, which is to be an alternative to the Błonia Błonia, which has been existing in Krakow for years. The Center for Large-Scale Outdoor Cultural Events fits into the general idea of the Nowa Huta Future area as a modern place that meets the most important needs of residents, including those related to recreation.

The Center’s design interferes with the environment as little as possible, is distinguished by minimalist forms and represents the so-called “smart living”. On the side of the existing buildings, along Branicka Street and Karaszewicza-Tokarzewskiego Street, there will be insulating greenery that will protect residents from noise during outdoor events. On the eastern side of “Błonia 2.0.” An above-ground pedestrian and bicycle route is planned, which will be located on a platform with the function of a green roof. Below there will be sports halls, catering, information points and equipment rentals. The bicycle path will take you both to the swimming pool in Przylasek Rusiecki and through the palace area in Branice towards the Logistics and Industrial Center “Ruszcz”. The project proposal also includes the construction of multi-purpose sports fields, tennis courts, a mini golf course, a skate park, a playground and a food truck zone. The whole will be enriched by intelligent solar benches with charging points and WiFi access and electric car charging stations.
