The “Branice” Science and Technology Park located along Igołomska Street mainly uses post-industrial areas that once belonged to the Krakow steelworks. You can still see abandoned buildings related to the operation of the plant here, as well as new companies that use the existing infrastructure, including large overhead cranes visible from a distance. There are also railway sidings and old embankments as well as viaducts showing the route of the old tracks. The Branice Science and Technology Park is also adjacent to the former manor house of the Branicki noble family. In its heyday, the manor building gathered local entrepreneurs, and this role is also played by the Branice Science and Technology Park today.
The Branice Science and Technology Park has great investment potential. The modernised Igołomska Street connects the park with the A4 motorway, which is a part of the longest European route E40 (English Channel – the eastern end of Kazakhstan, near the border with China). Equally important is expressway number 7, which connects Kraków with Warsaw, Gdańsk and the south of Poland. Not without significance are the railway siding built in the 1950s, which was built for the needs of the Nowa Huta steelworks plant, and the short distance to two airports – Kraków Airport in Balice and an airport with limited certification in Pobiednik Wielki.
Kraków Nowa Huta Przyszłości S.A. will comprehensively prepare the area for investors. It builds access roads, water, sewage and energy networks. Investors can count on properties with parking lots, access to utilities, electric car chargers and even mobile Internet networks.
As part of the “Branice” Science and Technology Park, two Economic Activity Zones were created on both sides of Igołomska Street. Both have already been commercialized. It is an area of almost 40 hectares where solutions related to the smart city idea, i.e. elements of intelligent city management, are implemented.
