“Little Masuria” will be offered for citizens and tourists visiting Krakow and Malopolska. Modern rest-and-recreation place with lido, sandy beach, bike paths, facilities for families with children and seniors will be created in Przylasek Rusiecki, situated in Nowa Huta area. Today (23 March), agreement which guarantees contribution of EU funds from the Regional Operational Programme of Małopolska 2014-2020 was successfully signed.
Małopolska is the most visited region – in last year alone 16 million tourists come to us. Both residents and tourists have growing expectations how to spend free time in an interesting way. Therefore, for several years, also thanks to huge support from EU funds, we have been realizing numerous investments, which promote sport and healthy lifestyle. There are hundreds kilometres of new bike paths, modern skiing stations or lidos where you can comfortably rest – enumerates Grzegorz Lipiec, member of the Malopolska Voivodeship Executive Board. – Next one will be Przylasek Rusiecki which soon will entirely change its image and – I am sure – it will encourage next visitors to spend time actively there – without TV and computer”.
Przylasek Rusiecki it is a place on the map of Kraków, where in 50’s and 60’s of the last century, gravel was mining to build a steel corporation (steel works?- chodzi o hutę?). Therefore , in the old meander of Vistula river, complex of 14 water reservoirs was created and the largest one – commonly known as reservoir number 1 – was a favourite place to rest for citizens of Nowa Huta district and surrounding areas. Unfortunately, nowadays it is far calling albo : it can hardly be seen as the urban lido of XXI century – there is no sufficient infrastructure, just like changing rooms or toilets for visitors. Thanks to grant from RPO, an area of 26 ha will be completely changed to a great place to rest, where citizens and tourists will be able to discover different face of Kraków and Nowa Huta district.
– Cracovians readily take rest among greenery. Last year, picnics in Kraków parks and at Vistula beaches were very popular. Thus, we wish to create more leisure areas, from miniature parks by brand new and revitalised parks such as Krakow Park, which new image will be presented soon, to huge undertakings such as Zakrzówek and Przylasek Rusiecki projects. I have no doubts, that it will become one of the most popular place to rest in our city – said Mayor of Krakow.
