On 6 May, Kraków Nowa Huta Przyszłości S.A. signed an agreement with the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage as part of the “Folk and Traditional Culture 2025” programme to co-finance the project “The Space of History – Ethnographic Maps of the Former Villages of Present-Day Kraków.”

The project involves conducting ethnographic research, compiling the results, and preparing and distributing ethnographic maps of the former villages located in the area of present-day Nowa Huta. The ethnographic research is one of the elements intended to engage the local community in the creation of the Kraków open-air museum in the “Branice” Educational Park.

Project objectives:

The project aims to carry out field ethnographic research, process and analyse the collected materials, and create two ethnographic maps based on the findings – covering the villages of Pleszów and Branice, including their hamlets. The initiative will contribute to the preservation of the cultural heritage of the Western Krakowiaks and promote folk and traditional culture.

Promotional activities will include:

– publication of articles on social media, as well as in electronic and printed formats;
– creation of informational posters;
– announcements through traditional channels and in-person meetings.

Project duration: June 2025 – December 2025

Project implementers: Kraków Nowa Huta Przyszłości S.A. in cooperation with the “Witold Dynowski Ethnographic Workshop” Association

Funding source: Funds from the Minister of Culture and National Heritage originating from the Culture Promotion Fund – a state special-purpose fund allocated within the framework of the Folk and Traditional Culture 2025 programme.
