By the end of this year, 3 thousand young trees will be planted in Kraków. This is a result of “We make oxygen – trees for Kraków” campaign, which was successfully ranked among winning campaigns of 2nd edition of Participatory Budget of Małopolska Voivodeship. This time, new trees enriched Krakow’s Branice.

The campaign was organised by Krakow Municipal Greenspace Authority and Landscape Park Complex of Małopolska Voivodeship. Employees of Kraków Nowa Huta of the Future S.A. together with citizens and students from Branice and Przylasek Rusiecki planted basswoods, elms and hornbeams. The event was accompanied by special educational workshops during which participants could learn that one tree can absorb 48 kilograms of carbon dioxide yearly and that the greatest quantity of oxygen is produced by beech, maple, robin, willow, basswood and ash.

Let us remind that “We make oxygen – trees for Krakow” initiative won 5 210 votes in 2nd edition of Participatory Budget of Małopolska Voivodeship what resulted in receiving 201 000 PLN subsidy from Małopolska Voivodship budget.
