The contract for the second part of the Economic Activity Zone in Branice has been signed!

Today, Kraków Nowa Huta of the Future SA and Instbud from Gdów have signed a contract for designing and construction of the second, northern part of the Economic Activity Zone – Nowa Huta of the Future (SAG), which will be built at the Branice Science and Technology Park.

This is the largest part of the Economic Activity Zone. It will occupy over 17 hectares of land north of Igołomska Street, behind the industrial plants located on this road. The selected contractor will prepare the area for future industrial and service investments by the end of November next year. The value of the signed contract is PLN 33 655 260. The real value of contracts for the implementation of the entire Economic Activity Zone “Nowa Huta of the Future” is over PLN 92 million. Two thirds of this amount is co-financing from the Malopolska Regional Operational Program for 2014-2020. Ultimately, Economic Activity Zone will cover almost 40 hectares of brownfield in the eastern part of Nowa Huta district.

“In addition to Rybitwy, Wesoła and areas near the Balice Airport, land development after the Nowa Huta combine is one of the strategic tasks for the progression of Krakow” – emphasizes the Deputy Mayor of the City of Krakow, Jerzy Muzyk – “In the case of Nowa Huta of the Future, we can say about the most advanced stage of works. The agreement signed today means that after its completion, all that remains will be to find people willing to invest in this area. Importantly, this Economic Activity Zone will be extremely attractive for companies – you will need infrastructure, but also a lot of greenery. In turn, future investments will contribute to the economic stimulation of Nowa Huta district”.

What will the northern part of the Economic Activity Zone look like?

The investment will create over 1.5 km of roads, almost 2 km of pavements and 1,300 meters of bicycle paths. In total, over 2.2 ha will be allocated to green areas, where almost 0.5 ha will cover a relaxation zone in the central part of the investment. Across the whole northern part of Economic Activity Zone, over 11 areas of flower beds and 240 new trees and shrubs will be planted

Modern district of industry and services

After the works are completed, 17 plots will be prepared for investors, currently being mostly abandoned brownfields. As a part of the investment, the necessary technical infrastructure will appear, i.e. waterworks, sewage pumping station, lighting, benches and litter bins. The area will also be equipped with bicycle racks, WiFi network and electric vehicle charging station.

“At present, these areas are the former operating space of the Krakow steelworks. We can still find here such elements as a large gantry crane, unused railway track fragments or even old wagons used to operate the plant. We will change this landscape to a ready and attractive place to invest. After completing our works, the plots will be fully prepared to build, for example, office buildings or modern production plants “- says Artur Paszko, Chairman of the Board of Krakow Nowa Huta of the Future SA.

Intensive time of changes in Nowa Huta of the Future

These are not the only changes that are taking place in the areas of Nowa Huta of the Future at this time. As we have already informed, an agreement for the design and construction of the southern part of the Economic Activity Zone was signed in April. Currently, we are in the process of inventorying this area and preparing documentation necessary to start construction works. Works around the bathing beach in Przylasek Rusiecki has already begun.

The Economic Activity Zone “Nowa Huta of the Future” is one of the most important components of the strategic project “Kraków – Nowa Huta of the Future”. It covers an area of almost 40 hectares located in post-industrial areas. Its big advantage is the accessibility – location in the immediate vicinity of the national road No. 79, proximity to the S7 expressway and A4 highway, as well as the vicinity of the railway infrastructure.

The project is a response to the demand for investment areas intended for industrial activities in the area of Krakow. The project will allow the city to “recover” almost 40 hectares of unused post-industrial areas, which will serve the development of companies mainly from the sector of small and medium-sized enterprises. It will be a space available to entities from various industries, with particular emphasis on the Smart Specializations of Malopolska Region (including: chemistry, IT technologies, biotechnology, sustainable energy, metal production, electronics, creative industries and leisure). Favourable conditions for conducting business and investing will be found there by entrepreneurs both from home and abroad. It is assumed that about 50 new investments will be located in this area, which will also create new jobs. Thanks to this approach, the activity of the new Zone will be in line with the implementation of strategic goals not only of Krakow, but also of the whole of Malopolska Region.
